Lessons

Expectations

Preparation: Please come to each lesson with your instrument, music, and any other materials we are working on. Consistent practice between lessons is essential for progress.

Punctuality: Lessons begin at the scheduled time. Please arrive a few minutes early to tune your instrument and settle in. If you are late, the lesson will still end at the scheduled time.

Parental Involvement: Parents of students younger than 16 are strongly encouraged to be present during lessons to better understand what to practice at home.

Philosophy

My teaching approach is grounded in the Suzuki philosophy, which emphasizes that every child, regardless of age, has the ability to learn. I work closely with both the child and their parents, providing guidance not only in mastering the cello but also in developing effective home practice strategies, motivation, and communication skills. With parents actively involved in each lesson and daily practice sessions, the teamwork of teacher, child, and parent creates a unique sense of growth and fulfillment that sets my program apart from traditional music education. I also encourage daily listening to the repertoire and attending live classical music concerts to enhance the learning experience.

Structure and Attendance

The teaching year starts mid August and ends the beginning of June, and is split into Fall semester and Spring semester. Tuition can be paid monthly, per semester, or all up front for the whole year.

Attendance: Regular attendance is key to your success. If you need to miss a lesson, please notify me at least 24 hours in advance. This allows me to offer your time slot to another student.

Cancellations: If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, or do not show up for a lesson, you will be charged for the missed session. Exceptions may be made in case of emergencies.
